The 4 tabbed Data Link Properites Wizard will show
In tab 1 choose an OLE DB provider (driver)
for your database
In tab 2 specify the connection settings
In tab 4 specify a value for the General Timeout A value
of 0 should indicate that there a timeout will not occur. Another value can
be given for the timeout in seconds

select your Data Source Name (DSN) from
the dropdown
or, create a new connection string
When the test button returns successful continue
In tab 4 specify a value for the General Timeout A value

Query Timeouts: When executing a complex query
the database may take some time to work out how to get the data. When using
ADO connections there is a default timeout of 30 seconds. Through the SQL*XL
program parameters you can change this value.
